2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES of June 8, 2005, Regular Meeting. Ms. Milnor noted that her daughter’s last name was wrong in the June minutes and should be revised to read as Stilley. Mr. Goodrich moved to approve amended minutes; Ms. Carter seconded the motion. Mr. Goodrich, Ms. Hurley, Ms. Carter and Ms. Milnor voted “Aye.” Motion carried, 4-0.
3. COMMUNITY COMMENTS. No comments.
4. REPORTS.
A. Street Tree Report
Ms. Hurley asked what species of trees were planted at the police station. Mr. Ellis stated White Pine, Blue Spruce, and Quanson Cherry. Ms. Hurley asked which areas of the police department they were planted. Mr. Ellis stated that the White Pines were planted on the west side of the building, around the parking lot. Ms. Hurley asked if anything was being done around the lot on the west side. Mr. Ellis stated he wasn’t sure if that area was our responsibility or not.
5. SCHEDULED MATTERS.
A. Tree Preservation Update
Ms. Hurley stated that she was on Hill Rd. across from Graeter’s Ice Cream and it didn’t appear that any more trees were moved out of that area.
B. Arboretum.
Mr. Ellis stated that he has taken some trees out. Ms. Carter asked how the Girl Scouts project was going. Mr. Ellis stated that she hasn’t been down there yet.
Ms. Hurley asked how the Keller Farms project was going. Mr. Ellis stated that the steps were in. Mr. Goodrich stated he was down there and it looked good.
Ms. Hurley asked if the trashcan had been put down there yet. Mr. Ellis stated that he didn’t see one.
Ms. Hurley asked about the cat situation. Mr. Ellis stated that he has seen a couple cats down there but they are not causing any damage to the trees at this time. Ms. Hurley asked if the City had a cat ordinance and Ms. Carter stated that they did not. Ms. Carter stated that if they wanted anything done about the cat situation it would need to be taken to City Council. Mr. Goodrich stated that we should just keep an eye on the situation for now.
6. COMMUNICATION
Ms. Hurley suggested adding an article to the website about taking care of trees and planting during the Fall months. Mr. Ellis stated that he would get something together. Ms. Carter asked if the trees on the hill in the area where kids sled had been checked on. She stated they looked like they were dying. Mr. Ellis stated that he would check on them.
7. OTHER BUSINESS
Ms. Hurley stated that she would be unable to attend the August 10, 2005 meeting.
8. ADJOURNMENT
Their being nothing further, Mr. Goodrich moved to adjourn, Ms. Carter seconded the motion. Mr. Goodrich, Ms. Hurley, Ms. Carter and Ms. Milnor voted “Aye.” Motion carried, 4-0. The Tree Commission adjourned at 5:50 P.M. on July 13, 2005.
