TREE COMMISSION

CITY HALL, 100 LOCKVILLE ROAD

THURSDAY, MAY 8, 2008

REGULAR MEETING

6:00 P.M.

 

  1. ROLL CALL.  Mr. McKinley called the meeting to order at 6:10 P.M., with roll call as follows:  Mr. Goodrich, Ms. Carter, Mr. McKinley and Ms. Shelts were present.  Mr. Malone was absent.  Edward Drobina, Diana Fuller and Angie Perrine were also present.

 

  1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES of April 10, 2008, Regular Meeting.  Mr. Goodrich moved to approve; Ms. Carter seconded the motion.   Mr. Goodrich, Ms. Carter, Mr. McKinley and Ms. Shelts voted “Aye”.  Motion carried, 4-0.

 

  1. COMMUNITY COMMENTS.  No comments. 

 

  1. REPORTS.   

A.                 Street Tree Report

Mr. Goodrich asked what ‘heel in’ means.  Mr. Drobina stated that means the trees are temporarily put in the ground to be planted.

 

     5.    SCHEDULED MATTERS.

                  A.        Tree Preservation Update

No comments.

 

B.                 Tree Data Base

Mr. Drobina stated that he would update the Data Base after Gregg Ellis completes the spring tree planting. 

 

C.                 Arboretum.

Ms. Carter stated Christie Hammond and herself would be planting flowers when weather permits.  Mr. Drobina asked if we needed to do a purchase order to buy flowers.  Ms. Carter stated all the flowers would be donated. 

 

D.                 City Beautification Campaign.

Mr. McKinley handed out a Violet Township Garden & Landscape contest to review and suggested the Tree Commission could possibly use those guidelines to arrange something similar for the city.   

 

  1. COMMUNICATION.  No comments.

 


  1. OTHER BUSINESS.  Mr. Drobina introduced Angie Perrine to the Tree Commission and stated she would be replacing Diana Fuller who is retiring at the end of the month.  Ms. Shelts stated she would like the Tree Commission to compare tree ordinances with the City of Delaware and make changes if needed. 

 

    8.     ADJOURNMENT

            Their being nothing further, Mr. Goodrich moved to adjourn, Ms. Carter seconded the motion.  Mr. Goodrich, Ms. Carter, Mr. McKinley and Ms. Shelts voted “Aye.”  Motion carried, 4-0.  The Tree Commission adjourned at 6:18 P.M. on May 8, 2008.
