REGULAR MEETING
7:30 P.M.
1. ROLL CALL. Mr. Frazier called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Frazier, Ms. Green, Ms. Hammond, Mr. Boetcher, Mr. Pawlowski, Ms. Sanders and Parks and Recreation Director Steve Carr were all present.
2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM April 28 REGULAR MEETING. Ms. Green moved to approve, seconded by Mr. Boetcher. Ms. Hammond, Mr. Boetcher, Ms. Green, Mr. Pawlowski and Mr. Frazier voted to approve. Motion carried 5-0.
3. COMMUNITY COMMENTS. None
4. PARK DEVELOPMENT / IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS
A. Community Pool – Mr. Carr stated that the pool is making money, more passes were sold this year, and City of Pickerington residents purchased over 40% of the total number of passes sold (up from 27% last year.) Ms. Sanders said she has heard many positive comments about the City’s pool.
B. Simsbury Disc Golf Course – Mr. Carr reported that drainage issues and fairway seeding remain to be completed.
C. Victory Park Playground Improvements – Mr. Carr stated that the playground was closed after the recent flooding because all of the safety surface mulch had washed away. The old play unit will be removed.
D. Community Gardens – Mr. Carr stated that this project is scheduled for the fall.
5. RECREATION AND EVENTS
Mr. Carr said his staff is working on the fall program guide to be mailed to residents in August with programs starting in September.
Mr. Carr said he was concerned that a Senior Center property tax levy might have a negative impact on the City’s income tax issue this fall and any possible future joint park district levy.
