       5.   REPORTS.

      a.   Parks and Recreation Director’s Report

Mr. Drobina stated that they have now sold 556 swimming pool passes this       season.  Mrs. Carter asked what the occupant limit at the pool is.  Mr. Drobina       replied that he would have to check on that he didn’t know the limit. Ms.     Hammond asked about the pool lights.  Mr. Drobina commented that the pool   lights are still not working because the contractor ordered the wrong size and the             manufacturer is not going to be making the size we need until the end of August.     So the lights will probably not be repaired until next year.  We still have the lights     going around the pool working just not the ones inside of the pool.

Mrs. Carter asked about the steps over in Sycamore Park.  Mr. Drobina stated that      he has   contracted this work out and he is suppose to be giving us a weeks notice   and the city will be tearing out the old steps and then the new will be put in.  He         also stated that the current steps have been blocked off and no one should be             using them.

Mr. Drobina commented that the city has received the park benches and trash   containers for the Disc Golf course.  They still need to be put together but this s        should happen not next week because of it being a short week due to the holiday            but the following week.  Mrs. Carter asked about the sponsors for the signs.  Mr.             Drobina stated that council passed an ordinance that would allow the City          Manager to seek sponsorship for the disc golf course.  Mrs. Carter had some      questions regarding how the city will handle tournaments.  Mr. Drobina replied         that they have not worked out all the details yet.  The city might have a fee             schedule that if teams would like to have a tournament they would have to reserve          the park. Again, these are things that will have to be discussed and worked out   with the Finance Committee.

The Community Gardens has all of the 46 plots rented out this year and hopes to           expand next year commented Mr. Drobina.  Mr. Dean asked about fruit trees      being planted in this area.  Mr. Drobina stated that he didn’t feel we had enough     room for an orchard and a garden at this location.  I would like to see maybe             having   this located at the Disc Golf course area.

b. Council Representative’s Report           No comments.

6.   BOARD DISCUSSION ITEMS.         No comments.

7.   OTHER BUSINESS.  Mr. Drobina stated he would like to mention that the city has      received a request for a wedding ceremony down at the covered bridge next year maybe           June or July they haven’t set a date yet, and I wanted to hear your comments on this.              Mr. Dean asked if the city would be renting this out.  Mr. Drobina said they were     thinking about renting it out like they do the shelters.  Mr. Dean didn’t think this would   be a problem.  Mrs. Carter stated that she could see someone wanting to have a wedding    there with all of the natural habitat.

Mr. Drobina commented that the Recreation position was going to be filled.  They have                         had twenty applications turned in for the job opening.

Mr. Dean asked what the dates are for the Violet Festival this year.  After some            discussion it was determined that the festival starts the same night as the next board    meeting.  Mrs. Carter moved to postpone July’s meeting until the regular scheduled            meeting in August due to the Violet Festival; Mr. Dean seconded the motion.  Ms.             Hammond, Mrs. Carter and Mr. Dean voted “Aye”.  Motion carried, 3-0.
