                                                 REGULAR MEETING AGENDA

                                                                      7:00 P.M.

 

1.         ROLL CALL.  Mr. Maxey called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M., with roll call as follows:  Mr. Maxey and Mr. Fox were present.  Mr. Parker absent.  Others present were: Lynda Yartin.

 

2.         APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF June 2, 2003, Regular Meeting.  Mr. Fox moved to approve; Mr. Maxey seconded the motion.  Roll call was taken with Mr. Fox and Mr. Maxey voting “Yea.”  Motion passed, 2-0. 

 

3.         SCHEDULED MATTERS:

 

A.        Review and request for motion to approve draft ordinance amending Chapter 220 of the Pickerington Codified Ordinances (Administrative Code) to require abstention from voting.  Mr. Fox inquired if the sponsor of this legislation would be speaking to the committee on this issue.  Mr. Maxey stated he thought the sponsor would attend tonight, but perhaps something came up.  Mr. Maxey stated he had spoken to Mr. Shaver on this legislation and he had questioned him on the April 30th memo from Acting Law Director Jeff Feyko.  Mr. Maxey stated he had brought up some of the points in that memo as well as all of the points that had been brought up in a previous Rules Committee meeting.  Mr. Maxey stated if there were no objections, he would continue this item on the agenda until the next meeting. 

 

B.         Review and request for motion to approve draft ordinance amending Section 1482.02 of the Pickerington Codified Ordinances relative to members of the Nuisance Abatement Board.  Mr. Fox moved to approve; Mr. Maxey seconded the motion.  Mr. Maxey clarified this legislation was to revise the composition of the Nuisance Abatement Board as currently the Violet Township Fire Chief is listed as a member.  Mr. Maxey further clarified the membership would now be composed of the Manager, the Safety Committee’s representative, and the Mayor, or their duly authorized representatives.  Roll call was taken with Mr. Maxey and Mr. Fox voting “Yea.”  Motion passed, 2-0. 

 

C.        Review and request for motion to approve draft ordinance to amend Section 278.02 of the Pickerington Codified Ordinances relative to the increase of membership for the Tree Commission.  Mr. Fox moved to approve; Mr. Maxey seconded the motion.  Mr. Maxey clarified this legislation was discussed in Safety Committee at the request of the Tree Commission.  The Tree Commission was requesting additional members, and it is the recommendation of Safety Committee that the membership of the Tree Commission be increased from a three to a five member Commission.  One of the new members would be an individual appointed by Council and the second would be a member of the Safety Committee, who has been elected by the Safety Committee to serve as the Committee’s representative.  Roll call was taken with Mr. Fox and Mr. Maxey voting “Yea.”  Motion passed, 2-0. 

 

4.         OTHER BUSINESS:  No other business was brought forward. 

 

5.         ADJOURNMENT: There being nothing further, Mr. Fox moved to adjourn; Mr. Maxey seconded the motion.  Mr. Maxey and Mr. Fox voted “Aye.”  Motion carried, 2-0.  The meeting adjourned at 7:06 P.M., July 7, 2003.
