COUNCIL WORK SESSION

7:00 P.M.

 

 

1.         CALL TO ORDER:  Mayor O’Brien opened the Council Work Session at 7:00 P.M., with the following council members present:  Mrs. Sanders, Mr. Fix, Mr. Sauer, Mrs. Hammond, Mr. Barletta, Mr. Wisniewski, and Mayor O’Brien.  Others present were:  Bill Vance, Lynda Yartin, Chief Mike Taylor, Phil Hartmann, Greg Bachman, Ed Drobina, Kierre Lewis, Pierce Lewis, Edmund Windsor, Janet Thiede, Carol Carter, and others.   

 

2.         SCHEDULED MATTERS: 

 

            A.        Presentation by Ms Kerstin Carr, Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) regarding Lifelong Communities and Complete Streets.  Ms Juana Sandoval stated that her supervisor, Ms Kerstin Carr, had planned on giving the presentation this evening, however, she had become ill and could not be present.  Ms Sandoval stated she would speak about creating lifelong communities and complete streets.  She further stated that MORPC has three main departments, the Bureau of Energy that deals with environment and weatherization issues; Housing Council Rehab, and Transportation Planning.  She stated she is with the Transportation Department and works in the Active Transportation and Safety Section on pedestrian, bike, transit, and safety planning.  Ms Sandoval stated she is very excited about complete streets and this is something she feels very strongly about. 

 

Ms Sandoval provided a power point presentation (Attachment 1 to these minutes). 

 

Mayor O’Brien inquired if Ms Sandoval could define low density by MORPC standards and she stated she did not know right off, but she would provide that information. 

 

Ms Sandoval stated she would be happy to answer any questions anyone might have. 

 

3.         ADJOURNMENT.  There being nothing further, Mayor O’Brien closed the Council Work Session closed at 7:25 P.M., June 7, 2011.
