PUBLIC HEARING

1.         Call to Order:  Mayor O’Brien opened the public hearing at 7:20 P.M.

2.         Roll Call:  Roll call was taken with the following members present:  Mr. Barletta, Mrs. Hammond, Mr. Wisniewski, Mr. Sauer, Mr. Fix, Mrs. Sanders, and Mayor O’Brien were present.  Others present were: Bill Vance, Lynda Yartin, Chris Schornack, Chief Mike Taylor, Greg Bachman, Scott Fulton, Pat Reade, Ed Drobina, Greg Bachman, Janet Thiede, Nate Ellis, and others.

3.         Purpose of the Public Hearing:  Mayor O’Brien stated the purpose of this Public Hearing is to allow citizens a chance to voice any concerns and/or questions regarding the proposed 2012 Budget.

4.         Presentation to Council:   Mr. Schornack stated some of the highlights of the 2012 budget include $100,000 for the engineering required for the S.R. 256 safety grant, $350,000 for street paving projects, three new police cruisers with the trade-in of five vehicles and the motorcycle, a six percent increase in health insurance premiums, and we are paying down $270,000 in principal on our General Fund note obligations.

5.         Resident Questions/Comments:  There were no questions or comments.

6.         Council Comments/Questions:  Mr. Wisniewski questioned what decision had been made regarding the pool.  Mr. Schornack stated a budget is included that allows us to operate the pool with the purchase of two new lifts for the big pool, and we are still working with our legal counsel on the ADA requirements for the baby pool.  He stated as far as opening the main area of the pool we will proceed with having that budget presented and then come back if we need to do any additional changes or modifications to the budget.  Mr. Wisniewski stated then this was not tapping into the General Fund and Mr. Schornack stated that was correct, it was not tapping into the General Fund, no transfers, advances or borrowing at this time.  Mr. Schornack stated there may be the possibility of a moveable lift for the baby pool that would cost a lot less than we originally projected and we are still looking into that.

7.         Adjournment.  There being nothing further Mayor O’Brien closed the Public Hearing at 7:26 P.M.

RESPECTFULLY SUBMITTED:                                ATTEST:
