SERVICE AND UTILITIES
The fee for water and sewer service is billed on a monthly basis for the previous months utility use. The bills are always sent on the first day of each month. Due date is the 15th of each month. If the amount due is not received by the due date a late penalty of 10% of the current months billing is added to the amount due. The net amount shown on the bill is the amount due if payment is received by the date due. The gross amount is the amount due if payment is received after the due date and includes the 10% late penalty.

UTILITY SERVICE APPLICATION

Current rates are as follows:

WATER FEES

Minimum Service Charge of $4.50 per month

0 - 12,000 gallons $ 4.04 per each thousand gallons

Excessive water fee $ 6.20 per each thousand gallons usage in excess of 12,000 per month

SEWER FEES

Sewer fees are calculated on the amount of water used. This would include all outdoor water usage unless a deduct meter has been installed by the City. Deduct meter information is below.

0 - 3,000 gallons $ 26.58 minimum charge per month

Over 3,000 gallons $ 8.86 per each thousand gallons

There is no discount for filling swimming pools.

DEDUCT METER

Deduct Meter Fee $247.43

Deduct meters must be purchased from the City to ensure that the meter is compatible with the City meter reading equipment. The deduct meter is installed before the outdoor faucet and meters water passing through just that meter. The combined usage on both meters determines the amount billed for water. In the event that the combined usage is over 12,000 gallons per month, the excessive water fee is billed on all usage over the 12,000 gallons. The sewer fee will not be billed on water passing through the deduct meter.

After the deduct meter has been paid for and the resident has the plumbing ready for installation of the meter, contact the billing office at 614- 833-2289 to schedule the installation. 24 hours advance notice is required. For information on how to do the plumbing, contact the Utilities Maintenance office at 614-833-2292.

WATER LEAKS

The higher the water usage is, the costlier the bill will be. Being diligent in the repair of water leaks will lower your bill as well as conserve water. One of the best methods for checking for leaks is to look at the water meter when you are not using any water. There is a spinner dial on the meter and if the needle is moving that means water is passing through the meter. A frequent cause of this is toilets that do not flush properly. If the toilet continues to run for longer than normal after flushing this means that the water is continually draining out of the bowl and then pulling water from the tank. You will not see the water on the floor, but it is still pulling water through the meter.

Water softeners that malfunction, a humidifier on a furnace, leaks at the faucet and outdoor faucets left running or with leaks are also culprits. If you think there is a leak and you are unable to determine where it is at you may contact the utilities billing office at 614-833-2289 to schedule an appointment for an employee of the utilities maintenance department to check this for you. It is required that someone is home at the time of the appointment. There is no fee to residents for this service.
